Ella's research interests include environmental justice, felony disenfranchisement, and the history of U.S. led involuntary sterilization in Latino communities. Ella was recently accepted into the Honors in the Major Program, which she will begin in the Fall of 2024. Ella hopes to study environmental justice movements, particularly how they gain momentum, span ideological differences, and overcome obstacles. Under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher Reenock, Ella will examine how marginalized communities in Florida protested against sugar cane burning and how they were treated by the government in comparison to well-resourced groups.
