Under the guidance of FSU religion professor Rebecca Peters, Alyson analyzed the ways in which female directors tend to uphold misogynistic tropes in their portrayals of female characters. She found that, although strides are being made in the industry to move past these flawed characterizations, they prevail regardless, given how difficult it is for movies that push these boundaries to succeed.
