Business and Economics. Connor conducted an independent research project through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), investigating the impact of the 1916 Federal-Aid Road Act on regional automobile adoption. Supervised by Dr. William Cockriel, Connor collected and analyzed historical data on county-level road construction and car registrations to explore how early federal infrastructure investment influenced local transportation outcomes. His project combined economic history with policy analysis, aiming to quantify long-term effects of federal aid on development. The research suggests that areas receiving early funding often saw accelerated infrastructure growth and higher vehicle adoption in subsequent decades. The project was conducted internally at FSU and has implications for understanding how foundational government programs shaped modern economic geography.
