Kylee's research interests pertain to the fine arts and its impact on the performers, audience, creative team, and how it works to shape culture. As a participant of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, Kylee conducted research with mentor Dee Selmore on a project titled "The Black Artists Way". The research observed the psychological effects of portraying emotionally demanding roles on back actors. Working with a local theatre, Theatre Tallahassee, she gathered data from the actors performing in a production of August Wilson's "Fences" to focus on developing a strategy for stepping out of character in hopes to mitigate the effects of boundary blurring and vicarious trauma.
